Opus 2 takes Fellow’s all-purpose grinder and makes meaningful improvements where they matter most: speed, precision, retention, cleanliness, and workflow.
We’ve already been putting Opus 2 to work in the Virtuous Coffee lineup, and the improvements are immediately noticeable. It grinds faster, feels more powerful, leaves noticeably less coffee behind, and the redesigned grind path and anti-static system make for a much cleaner experience on the counter.
Most importantly, it’s remarkably versatile. We’ve been getting excellent results brewing pour-over, grinding for Aiden, and dialing in espresso on Fellow’s Espresso Series 1.
What’s New with Opus 2
The new 48 mm stainless steel conical burrs are larger than the 40 mm burrs in the original Opus, producing faster grind times and improved particle distribution. Fellow reports an espresso dose can grind in approximately nine seconds.
The biggest workflow improvement may be the new stepless side adjustment dial. Instead of working between the original Opus's external settings and internal adjustment ring, Opus 2 gives you continuous adjustment across the grind range. That means virtually infinite fine-tuning when dialing in espresso while still making it easy to move into pour-over, batch brew, French press, or cold brew territory.
Fellow also redesigned the grind path for near-zero retention and upgraded the ionizer to further reduce static. In our experience, that translates to less coffee left behind and considerably less mess around the grinder.
And the workflow is simpler. Opus 2 includes a 100 g standard catch cup plus a dedicated 30 g espresso dosing cupthat fits both 54 mm and 58 mm portafilters. No extra dosing lid or adapter to fuss with—just grind, dose, and go.
