This peaberry lot from Songwe, Tanzania invokes a sense of discovery, with small, round, single-seeded beans that hold more flavor than their size suggests, offering a cup that’s at once classic, melodical, and quietly powerful.

Flavor Notes: Dark Chocolate | Red Currant | Mulberry | Chamomile
Roast: Medium
Process: Washed
Variety: Kent, Bourbon, N39, Local Varieties
Producer: Isaiso Cooperative

Peaberries form when a coffee cherry grows a single round seed instead of the usual two, creating a denser, more concentrated bean. That extra intensity shines immediately in the cup with deep dark-chocolate richness, bright red-currant and mulberry highlights, and a soft chamomile finish that gives the whole experience a gentle lift.

Sourced from the award-winning Isaiso farming cooperative, this lot represents the care, skill, and pride of the smallholder families who tend these high-elevation farms. After harvest, the cherries are brought to local community processing stations where they’re pulped, naturally fermented for up to 72 hours, and fully washed. During the washing and grading stages, the densest peaberries sink to the bottom, making it possible to separate and preserve only the highest-quality seeds.

Our specialty roast profile is designed to honor that density and sweetness, unlocking a layered cup that’s both comforting and vibrant. Expect clarity, balance, and a dynamic flavor punch worthy of its peaberry name.
